Every morning I look out at our garden and feel delighted
that we employed Lesley. It looks good from every angle and is a
joy to sit in - exactly what we had hoped for!
Three years ago our garden was a mess. We had done up the
inside of our house and now it was time to turn our attention to
the outside. We wanted to be able to walk out of the house
and down the garden - not feel we were walking into a car
park. So we needed a clear separation between car space
and people space.
We wanted to make good use of the large garden we had and some
of the mature trees and shrubs. We wanted a garden that
was easy to maintain with places to sit in at different times of
the day. It had to be intimate but capable of hosting a
good party if we were in the mood.
Paul and I find it difficult to agree, so Lesley not only had to
design the garden but negotiate a brief that we would both be
happy with. This she did professionally and
tactfully. Knowing Lesley was a qualified surveyor took any of the worry
out of the physical construction - there was quite a lot of
digging out and path laying. Her direct supervision meant
that she had the worry, not us and that was just what we
wanted.
Although we had little idea how to achieve the garden we were
after, Lesley's suggestions created exactly the desired effect. We would be delighted to recommend Lesley - or pop round and see
for yourself and then decide.

We felt that you
completed our garden brief in a most professional and

with our queries. We have ended up with a much
better garden because of your involvement.
The garden
actually has a style or theme and you definitely made
best use of the space available. The angles that you
used actually made a small garden look a lot bigger.
The technical side of our
garden design, i.e. levels would have been difficult for a
non-professional to get right.
I am sure that
we have the garden we wanted - though that's a difficult
question. If you remember, our idea was decking by the
house, seating area at the bottom and some steps in
between. You came up with an attractive design which
incorporated all the things we asked for. Also
as you had a good relationship with our garden builders, you
were able to act as a go between a couple of times, which was
useful.
The garden
looked better last year than the first year, the plants have
still got plenty of growing to do so it should look better and
better.

I thought I wanted a Mediterranean garden! Lesley
incorporated my
requirements into a
garden that fits the Victorian aspect of our house
and I didn't notice for a while. It's that good.
The bamboos
give us privacy without closing our neighbours out with a wooden fence. The sound of the
grasses
and bamboo in the wind is delightful.
I thought grasses were a
bit "trendy" and was not sure how they would fit in
but with the overall look of the garden - now in the second year
they are just what's needed giving a soft feel to the stone
walls and paving with interest and colour all year round.
